Ingredients

  • 2 large russet potatoes or 4 medium
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Wash and dry potatoes and pierce a few times on each side with fork
  • Pour water in bottom of Instant Pot and add steamer basket
  • Place potatoes on steamer basket and seal pot
  • Set to high pressure for 12-18 minutes (see notes for exact times based on your potatoes)
  • Let natural pressure release for 5 minutes and then quick release
  • Serve with butter and sour cream or as desired

Notes

My potatoes were large - 14-16 oz each and I wanted them to be pretty tender so I went with a max time of 18 minutes.  For a slightly firmer texture I would have gone with 16 minutes.
Most potatoes area little smaller, more like 12 -14 oz so I would go with 14-16 minutes.
And for a more average size potato like you might get in a 5 pound bag (this are usually more like 8-12 oz each) I would go with 12-14 minutes.
Anything smaller of if you really prefer a firmer texture, I'd go with 10-12 minutes.
