Air Fryer Chicken Fried Steak

Yes, you can make chicken fried steak at home! Not only is this Air Fryer Chicken Fried steak easy to make, it's also gluten-free and doesn't require any deep frying!

Ingredients

For Steak:

For Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoon dairy free butter
  • 1/4 cup gluten free flour
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 11 oz almond cooking milk

Instructions

For Steak:

  • Beat together two eggs in a shallow bowl
  • In a separate shallow bowl whisk together almond flour, tapioca flour and seasoning
  • Dip each cube steak in egg and coat well
  • Transfer to flour mixture and use hands to coat well and press mixture into meat
  • Spray generously with avocado oil and place in air fryer basket
  • Cook at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes until steak reaches internal temp of 165 degrees (spray 1-2 additional times with oil if needed)

For Gravy:

  • Heat butter in small saucepan over medium heat
  • Whisk in flour and let cook 1-2 minutes
  • Very slowly stir in chicken broth while continuing to whisk
  • Do the same with the almond cooking milk
  • Bring to a simmer and continue to whisk for 3-5 minutes
  • If too thick, add more chicken broth

Notes

  • Do not flip steaks during cooking
  • Add red pepper flakes or extra pepper in the flour mixture if desired
  • Spray breaded steaks generously with the avocado oil so they  brown
