Taco Meat with Seasoning
Basic yes? Boring? Not at all! This homemade seasoning blend makes the best taco meat around, perfect for Taco Tuesday or just meal prepping for a quick homemade dinner any night of the week!
Highlights
-
Show of hands if you have tacos at least once a week at your house? It seems like when I talk with friends, that’s the usual. And why not, they are easy to make and kids and adults both love them.
-
Instead of opening one of those packets that may contain questionable ingredients, try my favorite homemade seasoning instead. Not only has this been tested by me, but also by my friends and family. They all agree: it’s a clear winner over any store bought blend!
-
Cook up some high quality ground beef with this seasoning for dinner, for a party, or even for meal prep and you’ll have a solid base for a delicious meal.
Ingredient Notes
Use a high quality ground beef for best results. A higher fat content beef will have more flavor, but you will also want to drain any excess fat. I use 85% lean ground beef from Butcher Box.
The seasoning blends I use are fairly basic/standard and can be found at most supermarkets. These are my basics that I usually keep on hand.
Preparation Notes
-
Brown the ground beef first and drain any excess grease. I don’t recommend rinsing.
-
Add the seasonings after the beef has been drained so that you don’t lose any of them.
-
Add a little water and let simmer until it cooks down
Recipe Notes
-
You can double this recipe (or even triple) and store leftovers portioned in the freezer
-
This can also be made using ground chicken, turkey, or pork
How To Store Leftovers
-
Let cool completely then store in air tight containers in fridge up to 3 days
- You can also portion individually and save in freezer up to 3 months for quick an easy dinners
