The best tasting bacon comes from….. the air fryer!! I love using my oven to make large batches of bacon, but for busy mornings and the tastiest bacon I use my air fryer! Get perfectly cooked thick cut bacon in only 15 minutes.

4 strips of crispy bacon on a gray platter

Highlights

  • Just because someone at a cooking magazine says you can’t cook bacon in an air fryer doesn’t mean it’s true! My family loves air fryer bacon.
  • It comes out crispy and cooked perfectly without the mess of cooking it in the microwave or on the stove.  I’ve tested out thin bacon, center cut bacon, thick cut bacon and I can tell you that making it in the air fryer wins for taste.
  • If you know a few tricks about the how to make bacon in the air fryer, I’m pretty sure it will become your new favorite method too.

Ingredient Notes

  • I used thick cut bacon as I think it yields the best overall results. Feel free to use what you prefer, just remember to adjust the cooking time.

Preparation Notes

  • Make sure you arrange the bacon in a single layer and try not to have the pieces touching too much
  • It doesn’t have to be perfect and probably will be a little too long but make sure you leave room for the air to circulate
  • Cut the pieces of bacon in half if needed depending on the size of your air fryer basket
  • Flip the bacon after 10 minutes or about 2/3 of the way through to make sure it crisps up on both sides

Equipment Notes

  • My favorite air fryer is one with a square basket like this 5.8 quart Cosori

  • To keep the air fryer from smoking add a thin layer of water to the bottom of the basket
  • Once bacon is done cooking move to a paper towel lined plate to absorb any excess grease
  • Use tongs to move bacon easily without burning yourself
