We love enchiladas in our house! We usually use a Rick Bayless sauce, but we will have to try making our own with this…:)
Enchiladas are the best! So many different kinds. Let me know what you think once you try it!
I’m Mexican. I’ve heard of people who make enchilada sauce with just ancho powder but never tried it myself. Gotta give this a try.
I’d love to know what you think once you try it! Thanks Maggie!
I love recipes like this, that teach people to make their own sauces and condiments. Once you go homemade, you never want store-bought! I think a lot of people mistake enthusiasm for homemade condiments as being snobby sometimes, but I’m always trying to tell people it’s not like that. It’s just gosh. Homemade IS BETTER! 🙂
Agreed! And it’s fun when you can customize the flavors a bit to make it just how your family likes it! Thanks Dana!
Yes, to homemade enchilada sauce. There is just no comparison for making your own. Pinning your recipe.
Thanks Jere!
What is Ancho Chili powder ? Is it different from regular chili powder? I have never heard of it. Thank You ! The sauce looks amazing .
Ancho chili powder is made from dried poblano peppers and has a nice smoky flavor compared to regular chili powder. It’s my favorite to use in chili and seasonings! You can find it in the spice aisle too, it can sometimes be a little trickier to find but I usually get it at Walmart or Target.
This looks so yummy, and I have most of the ingredients at home, too!
