Air Fryer Turkey Burgers
Craving a burger but don’t want to fire up the grill? My favorite turkey burger recipe uses only 4 ingredients for delicious results and can be cooked in about 10 minutes using your air fryer!
Highlights
-
When I first got my air fryer I loved it for things like frozen fries and tots. Then I started thinking about other things that I would love to make but wouldn’t normally bother with like fried pickles or chicken wings.
-
But what I quickly learned was not only does an air fryer replace deep frying, it also works perfectly for many recipes you usually bake or grill. On a whim one night I threw in some burger patties and they came out perfectly juicy and delicious!
-
I knew the next thing to try was my favorite turkey burger recipe. Many people don’t love turkey burgers because they’ve only had dry bland turkey burgers. By adding chopped jalapeno, shallot and garlic to the ground turkey you get insanely juicy and flavorful burgers every time. And they are so very easy to make.
Use a high quality organic ground turkey for best results.
Ingredient Notes
-
I recommend fresh and not canned jalapeño for this recipe. We remove the ribs and seed so they don’t turn out spicy but rather the jalapeño gives flavor.
-
You can use shallot for a milder flavor or red onion if you don’t mind a more distinct onion flavor (you’ll want around 1/4 cup chopped). The onion gives flavor and moisture to the burgers.
-
Jarred minced garlic – the only kind of garlic I typically keep on hand. You could swap out for fresh, but you may want to reduce the amount so the garlic doesn’t overpower.
Preparation Notes
-
Once you’ve finally chopped the jalapeno and shallot mix everything together in a bowl using your hands until just mixed.
-
I like to visually divide up the mixture into fourths to ensure my burger will be evenly sized. You could also use a kitchen scale.
-
Place the burgers carefully in the air fryer basket, they will be very wet and will fall apart easily. This is normal and they will hold together as they cook.
-
Flip once and monitor for them to be cooked through using a food thermometer (burgers should be 165 degrees F)
Equipment Notes
- I used a 5.8 quart air fryer with a square basket

Unfortunately mine were white on the outside and dry on the inside. How do you get them to brown?
If you use a leaner white meat ground turkey they may not brown up as much do to the lack of fat content.
